Phillip V. McAllister, MD is a Neurosurgeon on the active medical staff at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC), Physician’s Medical Center (PMC) and Bayou Region Surgical Center in Thibodaux. Dr. McAllister has been an active member of the medical community in Houma, LA since November of 2004.
Dr. McAllister studied Zoology at the University of Georgia where he later received his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine. He then went on to receive his medical doctorate in 1988 from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. McAllister completed his internship in 1989 and his residency in Neurological Surgery in 1994 at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. Dr. McAllister then went on to complete a joint Orthopedic and Neurosurgery fellowship in spine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon completion, Dr. McAllister served as the Director of Spine Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. McAllister has a strong professional interest in complex spine surgery. He is the only Neurosurgeon in the area that has completed a joint Orthopedic & Neurosurgical fellowship in Reconstructive Spinal Surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. McAllister holds memberships in several professional societies, including the Congress of Neurosurgery, American Academy of Neurological Surgeons, the Louisiana Neurosurgical Society, the Joint Section of Spine and Peripheral Nerves and North America Spine Society.
